twyla tharp on creative habit

I really enjoyed a lot of what Tharp had to say. Only lately did I start to value the process as much as the product, sometimes even more. It was hard for me to get to this point and Tharp's piece will help me continue this. Valuing and appreciating the process or others' processes so much is why I think I'm really interested in art therapy. Something Tharp made me think about was the concept of starting small and developing in order to get to big. It is still difficult for me to sit down and do whatever without a concrete plan. But, I have noticed that when I do this after twenty or so minutes something becomes of it. Sometimes this something I only spend an hour on and sometimes that something turns into a month long project. She talks about scratching being something that you have to dig through to find. This makes me think about digging for inspiration when it comes to nonconventional material use (process) and subject matter. I hope to scratch more in this class!

critterique

My critique group consists of Alex, Carrie, Paula, and I. We gave each other lots of both positive and constructive feedback and talked for over half an hour.
Some things I left thinking about:
-number of boards, 3 or 4?
-color i use for the others, especially crayon melting piece
-stick to nature theme
-concept of threes with flowers
-image on sprinkles be careful
-crayon piece draw in tree?
-man made vs. nature like
-be careful of colors
-steel will bring together, focus time on that as well maybe 3 wood pieces and steel instead of 4 or 4 and steel
